Pet Dentistry
Cat and dog teeth cleaning and dental care is such a critical aspect of your pet’s overall physical health.
Pet Dentistry
Tartar and plaque that buildup on the surfaces of teeth contains toxins that can leak into the bloodstream under the gum line, carrying toxins to other areas of the body. This is how many pets develop other serious health conditions like kidney failure and heart disease.
Preventing Dental Disease in Pets
Dental disease, which may cause other serious diseases as well, can be prevented through diligent pet dental care. We check the oral cavity of each of our patients when they come in for a physical examination every six months and will let you know if we recommend professional teeth cleaning.
We also recommend that pet owners make at-home dental care a priority. Some pets will accept having their teeth brushed at home while others will not, but even for those who hate it, there are plenty of great options available on the market. Talk with a member of our team for more information about at-home dental care.
Professional Dog and Cat Teeth Cleaning
When your pet is in need of professional dog or cat teeth cleaning, treatment will consist of:
- Anesthesia
- Pre-surgical bloodwork
- Ultrasonic scaling and cleaning
- Fluoride treatment, as needed
- Extractions, as needed
Like our surgeries, we ensure that our patients are always fully monitored during their teeth cleaning procedures. When our patients are under anesthesia, it is so important for us to keep a close eye on their vitals and ensure that they are safe at all times.
